Castelletto Lab 2018

Invitation Aho to the sun and all it’s magnificence, that keeps calling us back to that Italian soil. It is time dear ones, dear friends, to throw off our masks and run, with our bare skin revealed, through corn fields of hidden wonder. Tatty walls with peeling paint entice you to feel them, whilst expansive rooms are awaiting to be filled with bodies and sound. There is many a nook and cranny looking to be discovered, to be witnessed in it’s oldness, and reborn into a world where jesters and fools cover themselves in clay, paint their ears blue, and sing lullabies to the moon. In a world where tall green stands beside flat green, in patience, waiting for creatures to make green wild again. That caresses your intention, embraces your fear and asks you: What seed to do you want to plant with the tenderness of your kiss in the hopes that it will grow? Welcome dear wanderers to the bosom of the Cascina and it’s Guardians, who are awaiting to give your creative intention wings, to fill you with the bread of wonder so that you may plant those seeds and give flight to your dreams.

Creative Intention

Whether an artist, a nomad, a nature lover, a creature, a deity, professional or just curious, the Castelletto lab is an opportunity to explore unconventional approaches to performance and performance art. Blending an array of creative art forms, performance, ritual and ceremony in new contexts, to deliver an enriched seven day program followed by a two day weekend festival gathering, full of celebration, feasting, dancing and cacao. You are invited to bring your project, idea, dream, ceremony, dance with you to the Cascina and through these seven days of immersion, we will germinate these seeds into saplings. At the end of the lab, we will gift this work to the world through presentations & performances at the weekend festival/gathering, after which they are yours to take onwards in whatever manner you desire. The week will be a swirling whirlpool of experience, a space to open up, to let the unconscious creature in us speak, feeding our imagination, encouraging us to manifest and create. We’ll come together a number of times, spiraling around good food, movement, bike rides, gelato, night circles and massage to nurture and look after ourselves so that we can propel ourselves into opening up all our creative potential and pour it into designing our own unique offering. Time will be honored and given for solo devising and exploration each day alongside a consistent morning practice working with movement, and also many other offerings, rituals and workshops from facilitators through the week. The facilitators will also be (to some degree) available during the solo devising time to support and help develop your vision. There are so many spaces at the Cascina, large and small, for participants to explore and find the perfect backdrop to their creative endeavor. We will also be documenting the process for our archives and will have footage of each person’s performance available on hard drive after the lab for everyone to access.
